Bocini

Alberto Bocini Was born in Prato, Italy, and graduated from the L. Cherubini Conservatory Florence as a student of Alfredo Brandi. He continued his studies with Franco Petracchi, with whom he established a long and fruitful rapport.

Bocini held the role of Principal Double Bass player for 5 years in the Orchestra Nazionale dell’Accademia di Santa Cecilia (Rome) and for 15 years in the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. He recently left the orchestra in order to pursue teaching as well as chamber and solo concerts, which has resulted in performances in Europe, the USA, Canada, Japan and South America, with recordings for Denon, Velut Luna and NBB records. NBB records is a brand/ record label created by Bocini and dedicated solely to double bass, with the intention of highlighting double bass literature, promoting new compositions for the instrument, rediscovering old recordings and offering a range of services for double bass players, both students and professionals, through the creation of an Internet portal.

Bocini is a member of the double bass quartet “the Bass Gang”, with which he regularly tours in the Orient (Japan, Korea, China). He is Department Chair at HEM Haute Ecole de Musique in Geneva, a role previously held by Franco Petracchi.
