Zhonghua Wei
Zhonghua Wei initiated his piano studies at the age of 5 under the tutelage of Taiwanese-American pianist Jay Sun, who served as the chair of the piano department at Xinghai Conservatory Middle School. Early competition successes include winning the Peter Takács Prize for Best Classical Sonata and the 1st prize in the Hilton Head International Piano Competition for Young Artists. He was also awarded the 3rd prize at the Cleveland International Piano Competition for Young Artists, as well as a special prize for the best performance of Bach. He was subsequently accepted for the second year in a row to the prestigious Morningside Music Bridge Festival, an elite chamber music program that offers full scholarships to the most talented young musicians in the world.
